Class Descriptions

Belly Dance

Intro/Beginning Bellydance
Each class will begin with a warmup designed to open and loosen the body in preparation for the unique movements of bellydancing. Students will learn basic bellydance posture, technique, moves and combinations. Starting with a basic hip, and moving into shimmies, undulations, hip and rib circles, and complementary arm movements. These movements strengthen the abdominals, arms, and legs and get you in touch with your body, no matter the size, shape or age! Students will also learn combinations and choreographies, and will have some opportunities to perform! This class will follow a session-based curriculum (there's so much to learn!), but walk-ins are welcome - start at any time!

Class materials are here.

Intermediate Bellydance
This class will build on the basics by adding more isolations, advanced moves and combinations, and refining technique. Each class will begin with a warmup designed to open and loosen the body in preparation for the unique movements of bellydancing. Expect to learn body rolls, belly rolls, figure-8s in 3d, hip circles, rib circles, hip pops and drops, and combinations of all of the above. We'll also work on understanding the basic Middle Eastern rhythms used in belly dance. This class will follow a session-based curriculum.
